Exodus Hydrographic Surveys, established in 2018 by David Murrell and Owen Friedlieb, is a hydrographic surveying company operating out of Perth, Western Australia. The company provides specialist hydrographic surveying services to support industry sectors operating in the marine environment.

David Murrell and Owen Friedlieb are degree qualified hydrographic surveyors and have obtained formal recognition as Certified Professionals in Hydrographic Surveying Level 1 (CPHS1) by the Australasian Hydrographic Surveyors Certification Panel (AHSCP) of the Geospatial Council of Australia (GCA).

Exodus Hydrographic Surveys has significant experience in project management, hydrographic survey system installations, survey data acquisition, survey data processing, chart production and reporting.

David Murrell, Director and Senior Surveyor

David Murrell founded Exodus Hydrographic Surveys in 2018.

David completed a Bachelor of Science Degree (Honours) in Ocean Science with Underwater Studies at the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom in 1997.

On completion of formal qualifications, following a short period in the financial services industry, he commenced employment in the UK nearshore survey industry focusing on hydrographic and geophysical surveys for offshore wind farms and cable routes.  In 2004 he relocated to Cape Town, South Africa and was employed by Reson SA conducting multibeam sonar installations and training. David relocated to Australia in 2008 and has obtained considerable experience in the Offshore Energy, Construction, Environmental, Renewable Energy, Ports and Harbours industry sectors. He has accumulated in excess of 19 years of professional experience in Hydrographic Surveying disciplines operating globally during his career.

David is a Member of the Australasian Hydrographic Society (AHS) and Geospatial Council of Australia (GCA) where he has been endorsed as a Certified Professional in Hydrographic Survey Level 1 (CPHS1) by the Australasian Hydrographic Surveyors Certification Panel (AHSCP).

Owen Friedlieb, Director and Senior Surveyor

Owen Friedlieb founded Exodus Hydrographic Surveys in 2018.

Owen completed a Bachelor of Surveying Degree (Honours) at Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Western Australia in 1995.

On completion of formal qualifications, he commenced employment as a Land Surveyor obtaining experience in the Cadastral, Engineering, Mining and Construction industry sectors. In 2000, he transitioned to employment as a Hydrographic Surveyor obtaining considerable experience in the Offshore Energy, Construction, Environmental, Renewable Energy, Government and Defence industry sectors. He has accumulated in excess of 20 years of professional experience in the Land and Hydrographic Surveying disciplines operating throughout Australasia and South-East Asia.

Owen is a Member of the Australasian Hydrographic Society (AHS) and Geospatial Council of Australia (GCA) where he has been endorsed as a Certified Professional in Hydrographic Survey Level 1 (CPHS1) by the Australasian Hydrographic Surveyors Certification Panel (AHSCP).
